Intel Arc Graphics 140V in Core Ultra For Gaming? Test in 6 Games!
The new Arc Graphics GPUs in the Series 2 Core Ultra processors are a big step forward in terms of performance compared to their predecessors. But are they powerful enough to be used for real gaming without the aid of a dedicated graphics card?
We’ll find the answer today as we test the Intel Arc Graphics 140V in the Intel Core Ultra 7 258V-powered ASUS Zenbook S 14 (UX5406) we’ve got for benchmarking.
All laptops with the most popular Intel Core Ultra 2 CPU in our Laptop Specs System, Core Ultra 7 258V:
Let’s start with a lighter title – Counter Strike: Global Offensive. A popular and fast-paced shooter, known for its competitive scene.
CS:GO | HD 1080p, Low (Check settings) | HD 1080p, Medium (Check settings) | HD 1080p, MAX (Check settings) |
---|---|---|---|
Average FPS | 207 fps | 184 fps | 126 fps |
Intel Arc Graphics 140V gets you 126 FPS on MAX settings, Full HD resolution, perfect for fast-paced gaming and the First-Person Shooter perspective.
Another action game, Gears 5, known for its intense third-person action and story-driven campaign:
Gears 5 | Full HD, Low (Check settings) | Full HD, Medium (Check settings) | Full HD, High (Check settings) | Full HD, Ultra (Check settings) |
---|---|---|---|---|
Average FPS | 81 fps | 55 fps | 41 fps | 31 fps |
Even on Ultra settings, you get more than a “Console experience” with 31 fps, and of course, you have the option to lower some settings and get to 60 FPS or above.
Far Cry 6 – a heavy action title set in a sprawling open world:
Far Cry 6 | Full HD, Low (Check settings) | Full HD, High (Check settings) | Full HD, Ultra (Check settings) |
---|---|---|---|
Average FPS | 70 fps | 51 fps | 41 fps |
You can choose between low settings with high FPS or Ultra settings and 41 FPS, which is still a pretty good result, exceptional, we might add, for integrated graphics.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla – an open-world RPG with stunning visuals:
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla | Full HD, Low (Check settings) | Full HD, Medium (Check settings) | Full HD, High (Check settings) | Full HD, Ultra (Check settings) |
---|---|---|---|---|
Average FPS | 61 fps | 51 fps | 39 fps | 33 fps |
You can get that 60+ FPS on low graphics settings here as well, but it’s good to see that even at Ultra, you won’t get below 30 FPS on average.
Borderlands 3, a fast-paced looter-shooter with a unique art style:
Borderlands 3 | Full HD, V.Low (Check settings) | Full HD, Medium (Check settings) | Full HD, High (Check settings) | Full HD, Badass (Check settings) |
---|---|---|---|---|
Average FPS | 77 fps | 55 fps | 36 fps | 28 fps |
Here you can tinker with a lot of details individually to reach the perfect picture for you, and you can squeeze up to 77 FPS, depending on your choices.
Metro Exodus is a super-heavy title with stunning graphics and atmospheric storytelling, but we tried running it anyway:
Metro Exodus | Full HD, Low (Check settings) | Full HD, High (Check settings) | Full HD, Extreme (Check settings) |
---|---|---|---|
Average FPS | 58 fps | 29 fps | 15 fps |
Playing it on Extreme preset is impossible, but the Low preset gets you almost 60 FPS on average, so we’re happy with this result too.
Props to Intel for upping their game in that department, and keep in mind that we’re using a super-slim 14-inch notebook here, so laptops with bigger headroom for their cooling system will get you at least 60 FPS on average on most games. Good job, Intel.
