Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Carbon (13″, 2022): Full Specs / In-depth Review

3 reasons to BUY the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Carbon (13″, 2022)

1. Display quality

The laptop offers a QHD+ IPS display with a 16:10 aspect ratio. It’s got excellent viewing angles, a max brightness of 410 nits, and a contrast ratio of 1420:1, which ensures deep colors and dark blacks. The panel also shows 96% sRGB coverage, which is amazing for Web designers and Graphic designers who value colors and have most of their work be internet-based.

In terms of color accuracy, our Design and Gaming profile lowers the dE value down to 0.9, which is great, as you need a value of 2 or lower, while the human eye can’t distinguish values less than 1. Here are the results of our test with the stock settings (left) and with our profile applied (right).

Office Work

Office Work should be used mostly by users who spend most of the time looking at pieces of text, tables or just surfing. This profile aims to deliver better distinctness and clarity by keeping a flat gamma curve (2.20), native color temperature and perceptually accurate colors.

Design and Gaming

This profile is aimed at designers who work with colors professionally, and for games and movies as well. Design and Gaming takes display panels to their limits, making them as accurate as possible in the sRGB IEC61966-2-1 standard for Web and HDTV, at white point D65.

Health-Guard

Health-Guard eliminates the harmful Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) and reduces the negative Blue Light which affects our eyes and body. Since it’s custom tailored for every panel, it manages to keep the colors perceptually accurate. Health-Guard simulates paper so the pressure on the eyes is greatly reduced.

2. Design and build quality

The laptop uses a carbon fiber layering technique that it calls “Carbon Web 2.0”. It uses it for the lid, while the base is made from a magnesium-aluminum alloy. Durability is okay, as the lid is fairly rigid, while the base is a lot tougher, as at the end of the day metals will always be sturdier while being slightly heavier. The device does look quite good, however, with the white color and rounded edges and corners. Also, the hinges on the lid are incredibly smooth, so opening it feels really good. In terms of weight, the laptop stops the scales at just 0.97 kg and has a profile of 14.8 mm.

3. Battery life

The laptop’s 50Wh battery pack lasts for 9 hours and 22 minutes of Web browsing, or 7 hours and 37 minutes of video playback, which is alright, considering the size. Now, we conduct the battery tests with the Windows Better performance setting turned on, screen brightness adjusted to 120 nits, and all other programs turned off except for the one we are testing the notebook with.
