Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Pro X (14″, 2022): Full Specs / In-depth Review

4 reasons to BUY the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Pro X (14″, 2022)

1. Design and build quality

While the laptop is definitely on the more expensive side, it has the premium build quality to back it up. The Slim 7 ProX is entirely made from aluminum, with rounded edges and corners, which contribute to it feeling even thinner than its 15.9 mm would suggest. The device is lightweight, stopping the scales at 1.45 kg. Overall, it looks and feels pretty portable despite all the hardware that’s inside. Durability is okay, with no major flexing from the lid or the base. The lid also opens with one hand, and the hinges feel smooth and balanced. It also folds out flat on the table.

With that, we come in contact with the base, which has stereo speaker grills on the sides and a keyboard between them. The board comes with a backlight while being pretty comfortable for typing as well, with long key travel and clicky feedback. Lastly, there’s the touchpad, with its glass surface being super smooth. Responsiveness and accuracy are great as well.

2. I/O

The port selection of the laptop lacks an SD card reader, however, you can easily get a dongle for that. Still, Lenovo should have included it, so we hope they do better for the next generation. What you get is two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, two USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 2) ports with Power Delivery and DisplayPort 1.4a support, as well as a power button, an audio jack, and a switch for the camera e-shutter.

3. Display quality

The 3K IPS display has a 16:10 aspect ratio and a 120Hz refresh rate. Moving around the device feels incredibly smooth, which improves the user experience. The panel has excellent viewing angles, a peak brightness of 415 nits, and a 1720:1 contrast ratio. There’s 96% sRGB coverage as well as great accuracy once we apply our Design and Gaming profile.

Here are the results of our accuracy test with the stock settings (left) and with our profile applied (right). As you can see, our profile lowers the dE value down to 0.8, which is excellent.

Office Work

Office Work should be used mostly by users who spend most of the time looking at pieces of text, tables or just surfing. This profile aims to deliver better distinctness and clarity by keeping a flat gamma curve (2.20), native color temperature and perceptually accurate colors.

Design and Gaming

This profile is aimed at designers who work with colors professionally, and for games and movies as well. Design and Gaming takes display panels to their limits, making them as accurate as possible in the sRGB IEC61966-2-1 standard for Web and HDTV, at white point D65.

Health-Guard

Health-Guard eliminates the harmful Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) and reduces the negative Blue Light which affects our eyes and body. Since it’s custom tailored for every panel, it manages to keep the colors perceptually accurate. Health-Guard simulates paper so the pressure on the eyes is greatly reduced.

Now, we conduct the battery tests with the Windows Better performance setting turned on, screen brightness adjusted to 120 nits and all other programs turned off except for the one we are testing the notebook with.
