5-inch HD display and Snapdragon 410
In comparison to the other Moto G4 models, Moto G4 Play has a compact 5-inch display, which ensures more comfortable one-handed operation. Its display’s resolution is HD (1280 x 720p) which ensures reasonable image detail of 294 ppi. Of course, the phone uses an IPS panel, ensuring vibrant and contrasty colors along with perfect viewing angles.
Additionally, the mobile CPU here is the well-known Snapdragon 410 which comes with four Cortex-A53 cores ticking at up to 1.2GHz. The GPU is Adreno 306 and your RAM – 1GB. As far as internal storage is concerned, you get only 8GB but there is a microSD card slot supporting up to 256GB.
8MP camera and durable 2800mAh battery
The main camera is 8MP and has an f/2.2 aperture, autofocus and LED flash. Also available are several traditional manual settings and modes such as Panorama and HDR. Furthermore, the camera can record Full HD videos. On the front, selfie fans will be presented with a 5MP camera that can take a number of shots subsequently, allowing you to chose the best afterwards.
Now, the battery has grown here. It is 2800mAh and this should definitely translate into a higher durability when compared to last year’s model. Also, according to Motorola, if you spend 15 minutes charging the phone with a 10W charger, this will provide 5 hours of battery life.
Upcoming Android 7.0 Nougat plus useful Moto features
Moto G4 Play uses Android 6.0 Marshmallow but the phone is expected to receive an update to Android 7.0 Nougat. We are again talking about stock Android which means that you won’t find too many changes and pre-installed apps, instead the phone’s operation is expected to be snappy and without any lag. Motorola has also added some useful features such as shaking the phone to check for missed notifications without having to power it on.
As one might assume, the model’s design is based on that of the other two Moto G4 representatives. It is 9.9mm thick and weighs only 137 grams. Additionally, the smartphone boasts a protective surface which shields it from sprays so that you won’t have to worry if you have to use it under gentle rain or if you splash a couple of drops on it.
