The MSI GS75 Stealth is a great gaming device. It features powerful hardware from Intel and NVIDIA (up to i9-9980H and RTX 2080 Max-Q), a good design, and an all-aluminum build. One of the biggest pros of this notebook is its display – that big 17.3″ panel comes with so-so color accuracy out of the box but is ready for color-sensitive work after applying our “Design and Gaming” profile.
First things first, the display has a model number AUO B173HAN05.0 AUO509D. As we mentioned, it’s 17.3″ unit with a Full HD resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio.
The maximum measured brightness is a good one – 249 nits (cd/m2) in the middle of the screen and 218 nits (cd/m2) average across the surface with a maximum deviation of 7%. The contrast ratio looks promising – 1300:1. The panel is able to cover 99% of the sRGB color gamut – those are the colors you’re seeing every day on your screen when browsing the Web. So, an excellent result.

Let’s talk about the color-accurateness of this display. At first glance, it wasn’t something that special – with an average dE value of 4.7 it looked like a not-so-good panel as many others. If we have to be honest, we count everything above 4.0 for “bad”. Gladly, our “Design and Gaming” profile did the magic and after applying it, the AUO B173HAN05.0 AUO509D transforms into one of the best panels we have tested up to date (and one of the few 240Hz units that are so good in this category). With our Design & Gaming profile, the panel is able to show an average dE value of 0.7 – the colors are very accurate, vibrant, and punchy.
Check out the viewing angles of this, they are really good. You can use your laptop from almost any angle without a visible color shift (almost).
Ok, let’s summarize everything. The AUO B173HAN05.0 AUO509D is a great multipurpose panel. You can use it for your daily routine tasks such as Web browsing and movies – it covers 99% of the sRGB gamut that is used for those two things – you can enjoy accurate colors at home while having fun in front of the display. Don’t forget that this panel is fitted into a gaming laptop and it does a great job in this situation – it has a 240Hz refresh rate and a fast response time of just 8.3 ms. Last but not least – if you have a color-sensitive job you can rely on this display because it’s able to show very accurate colors after our calibration.
No matter how you’re going to use this panel – at home, gaming, or at work, it’ll not disappoint you. Even the opposite – you’re going to love it because of its vivid picture.

Office Work should be used mostly by users who spend most of the time looking at pieces of text, tables or just surfing. This profile aims to deliver better distinctness and clarity by keeping a flat gamma curve (2.20), native color temperature and perceptually accurate colors.
Design and Gaming
This profile is aimed at designers who work with colors professionally, and for games and movies as well. Design and Gaming takes display panels to their limits, making them as accurate as possible in the sRGB IEC61966-2-1 standard for Web and HDTV, at white point D65.
THealth-Guard eliminates the harmful Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) and reduces the negative Blue Light which affects our eyes and body. Since it’s custom tailored for every panel, it manages to keep the colors perceptually accurate. Health-Guard simulates paper so the pressure on the eyes is greatly reduced.
