[Specs and Info] Acer Chromebook Spin 513 (CP513-2H) – we will be seeing more and more of these pop up

The laptop world has really woken up to the fact that mobile ARM-based processors are really powerful. Who would have thought that all it would take is Apple to want to break off of Intel and AMD and go to the next best thing: ARM.

The company which has patents for a variety of SoCs, Core architectures, and more, licenses these technologies to third-party manufacturers, who go on and create their own CPUs and SoCs, like MediaTek, Qualcomm, and Exynos. Today we have an ARM-powered Chromebook, that doesn’t sacrifice performance while bringing a new level of power efficiency, which has been a thing in smartphones for years now.

Design

Once again, we see an aluminum chassis, along with chamfered edges and rounded corners. The lid has a mechanism, similar to that of ASUS’s ErgoLift tech, with which the hinges work as a lever, lifting the back of the notebook, increasing the effectiveness of the cooling. As this is a Spin notebook, it has a 360-degree hinge, allowing it to be used as a tablet. Sadly, we have no front-firing speakers, this time the setup bring found on the bottom panel. In terms of weight and height, the laptop sits at 1.29 kg and has a profile of 16.3 mm.


Display

The laptop uses a 13.5-inch display with a glass cover, a 3:2 aspect ratio, and a 2K resolution of 2256 x 1504p. It uses an IPS panel and that is pretty much it since Acer doesn’t give any further details.


Specifications and features

In terms of power, we have the MediaTek Kompanio 820, also known as the MT8192. This is an SoC, which combines a CPU and a GPU, with 8 CPU cores and 5 GPU cores. The CPU cores are split into two teams, with four Cortex-A76 cores running at 2.2GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores running at 2.0GHz. It uses high-speed LPDDR4x RAM running at 4266MHz.

In terms of features and connectivity, the I/O includes two USB Type-C ports, a MicroSD card reader, an Ethernet port, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
