[Specs and Info] Acer Swift 14 (SF14-71T) – A new breed of Swift laptop
The Swift 5 is taking a break for the moment, and Acer has prepared something even better for 2023, and maybe beyond. The new successor is called the Swift 14, signifying the display size. However, the laptop is much more than a 14-inch screen, although that’s a pretty defining feature as well. We don’t want to reveal too much here, but you can expect plenty of performance in a small and portable package to take anywhere with you. As a bonus, it also looks incredibly well and is built like a tank, so you don’t even have to worry about durability.
Today we’re giving you a quick overview of the Acer Swift 14 (SF14-71T).
Acer Swift 14 (SF14-71T): Full Specs
Design
Similar to last year’s Swift 5, the Swift 4 has the same aluminum chassis, with Acer using precision CNC milling to craft it from a single block of aluminum. It has a two-color finish, as the sides are in glossy gold. They are double-anodized as well, to prevent corrosion. A larger part of the laptop has a green finish, which mixes well with the gold. The laptop has shaped edges and rounded corners. Branding is minimal, with only a small Acer logo on the back of the lid. In terms of dimensions, the thing weighs only 1.20 kg and has a profile of 14.95 mm.
The port selection includes two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, one of which works even when the laptop is off, so you can charge another device without needing to power the whole laptop. There are also two Thunderbolt 4 ports, an HDMI 2.1 port, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
Display
The Swift 14 has only one display option, a 14-inch QHD+ IPS panel. The high resolution perfectly fits with the screen size, which means a detailed and crisp image. Also, while Acer hides details about its brightness and color reproduction, if we were to look at last year’s 14-inch Swift 5, which has the same display, it boasted a peak brightness of around 500 nits, while fully covering the sRGB color gamut and providing great accuracy once we calibrated it with our display profiles. We hope and we’re pretty sure the same panel is here to stay, in which case get ready for an amazing experience.
Specifications and features
The laptop is powered by the Core i7-13700H, a new CPU with a lot of power. So far, we’ve tested it inside the MSI Pulse 15, and while these are different laptops in terms of cooling and power management, even if the Swift 14 performs 20% worse, it would still be an insane amount of power in a chassis this small. In terms of graphics, there’s only the Iris Xe Graphics G7 iGPU, which can help a lot if you want to render videos on the laptop since it supports encoding with both HEVC and AVC. The Core i7 is cooled by a TwinAir setup with two heat pipes and two fans, which should be enough to handle the chip, as there’s no GPU to worry about.
