[Specs and Info] MSI Stealth Studio series – Gaming/Creator hybrids of all shapes and sizes

MSI is doing a whole reset for 2023, reinventing its laptop slate once again. To be honest, they’re doing this way too often, but as long as it works, we don’t mind it. We’re starting off with the new Stealth Studio family, which includes three laptops, starting from the portable MSI Stealth 14 Studio and going up to the MSI Stealth 17 Studio. All laptops come with great displays, 13th Gen processors, and RTX 40-series graphics.

Today we’re giving you a quick overview of the MSI Stealth 14 Studio (A13Vx), MSI Stealth 16 Studio (A13Vx), and MSI Stealth 17 Studio (A13Vx).

Design

All three laptops come with metal bodies. The Stealth 14 and Stealth 16 use a magnesium-aluminum alloy, while the Stealth 17 just says metal. The laptops have an impressive design, but we really dig the 14-inch device with RGB lighting on the back and Stealth imprint on the heat vents, so when it’s dark you can it glow. You can see the speaker grills on the base, with some pretty interesting positioning.

MSI Stealth 17 Studio (A13Vx)2.80 kg20.8 mm

Display

The Stealth 14 and Stealth 16 share some display options, with an FHD+ 165Hz IPS panel and a QHD+ 240Hz IPS panel. The Stealth 16 adds a 4K UHD+ IPS panel to the mix with a 120Hz refresh rate. As for the Stealth 17, it has a standard 16:9 aspect ratio and has a total of four panels, with an FHD IPS 360Hz option, a QHD 240Hz option, and two 4K UHD IPS panels with either 120Hz or 144Hz.

Specifications and features

For hardware, the Stealth 14 uses the Core i7-13700H and a choice between the RTX 4050, RTX 4060, and RTX 4070. The Stealth 16 goes higher, with up to a Core i9-13900H, but keeps the GPU options the same. Lastly, the Stealth 17 has all the aforementioned CPUs but adds the RTX 4080 and RTX 4090. All laptops come with an IR sensor for Windows Hello, while the Stealth 16 and 17 also get FHD webcams.

A MUX switch and Advanced Optimus are present on all three. In terms of cooling, the Stealth 14 comes with a Vapor chamber, while the Stealth 16 has 5 heat pipes and two fans. The Stealth 17 adds two additional pipes, to keep up with the RTX 4090.

MSI also includes some pretty big batteries, so you get the best possible battery life and can work undisturbed even when you’re not close to an outlet. The smaller Stealth 14 has a 72Wh battery, which is still quite good, while the 16 and 17-inch models upgrade to 99.99Wh batteries, which is scratching the 100Wh limit that’s regulated by law.
