The Legion 5 gaming laptops have always been at the front in terms of being overall great gaming devices with high-powered hardware and amazing designs that spawned the new trend of low profile and incognito gaming devices that won’t suffocate you with RGB or too much branding.

The most recent 2022 model gets a slightly revised design that makes it appear even less gamer-y. It also now gets an aluminum lid, which is big, since previously it’s only had a plastic body. Recently, it also received some additional hardware options, which focus on entry-level gamers.

Design

The appearance of the laptop remains very minimal, while still focusing on functionality. There are a total of four heat vents on the sides and the back. A large part of the I/O is also found on the back, which can be good for cable management depending on your setup. The lid has a protruding notch, which houses a Webcam with an electronic shutter.

Display

There are three display options that all fully cover the sRGB color gamut, meaning that they can be used for professional use. The 300 nit max brightness is on the lower end, but it’s not unusable, even in brighter areas or outside. On the gaming side of things, two displays support NVIDIA G-Sync and have a 165Hz refresh rate, which you’ll be able to reach without a problem thanks to the available graphics.

Specifications

The new additions to the hardware selection are for the budget gamer mostly, but they still offer good performance for people who don’t need to play at the highest settings and framerates. On the CPU side, we have the new Core i5-12450H, which has 8 cores and 12 threads. The CPU should do well in productivity with a high core count and 4.40 GHz boost speed. On the GPU front, there are the RTX 3050 and RTX 3050 Ti, which have been very useful in Creator notebooks, delivering quick GPU acceleration in multiple Creator apps.
