[Specs, Info, and Prices] Acer Aspire 7 (A715-76) – An office device with the heart of a gamer

Gaming laptops are often bulkier and have crazier and more out-there designs. That’s not to say that the opposite doesn’t exist as well, as you’d just have to look at the Legion laptops from Lenovo or the Omen series from HP. However, for every one of these, you get an MSI Raider or an ASUS ROG Strix G18, which are bonkers devices. Sometimes, you need a slimmer and incognito device that can hide its gaming prowess in plain sight. Acer has been at the forefront of this, starting back with the Aspire Nitro. Now, we’ve got the Aspire 7 (A715-76), providing a platform for you to get a ton of work done, as well as take a break after work and relax with your favorite game, all in one device.

Today we’re giving you a quick overview of the Acer Aspire 7 (A715-76).

The Acer Aspire 7 (A715-76) is available now with a starting price of $849.99.

Acer Aspire 7 (A715-76): Full Specs

Design

The Aspire 7 offers a fully aluminum chassis with a Charcoal black finish, which means a cool-to-the-touch finish and a more premium feel. It’s slimmer than previous Aspire 7 laptops that we’ve tested, weighing 2.10 kg and having a profile of 19.8 mm. Other design features include a chamfered edge on the base, but only on the front, which certainly improves comfort, as your wrist doesn’t have to sit against a sharp edge.

In terms of I/O, the Aspire 7 comes with three USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, one Thunderbolt 4 port, an HDMI port, a LAN port, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.

Display

The laptop has a Full HD IPS panel, with Acer giving no information about the color coverage or accuracy. They don’t even reveal the brightness or contrast ratio. They do however advertise their BlueLight Shield and the ExaColor. The former is pretty self-explanatory, while the ExaColor software is supposedly there to adjust color temperature and contrast. It doesn’t say how it does it, which is even weirder, since the laptop doesn’t have an RGB sensor or an ambient light sensor, as some ASUS gaming laptops do, to adjust the display accordingly.

Specifications and features

In terms of hardware, you can rely on two 12th Gen Core i7 CPUs: the Core i7-12650H and the Core i7-12700H. These CPUs might sound similar, but they have a lot of differences. The 12650H has 10 cores and 16 threads, while the i7-12700H comes with 14 cores and 20 threads. Overall, the bigger chip is much better, however, it’s also a bit tougher to keep cool. While the laptop does have the option of a GPU, you can also stick with the integrated solution, however, why on earth would you do that, when you can squeeze an RTX 3050 inside? The GPU will give you a lot more performance and accelerate your workloads if you tackle video rendering or any other type of workload that can do with a fast GPU. You can also delegate work to the iGPU and discrete graphics, for better multitasking.
