[Specs, Info, and Prices] Acer Predator Triton 300 SE (PT316-51s) – It grew up

Acer really does seem to have gotten their act together. Their Nitro 5 gaming laptops have become some of the best low-end options, with improved cooling and higher-TDP hardware, which offers extra performance. They have done some retooling on the high-end as well, where they were already decent.

Today we have the Acer Predator Triton 300 SE (PT316-51s), which has bulked up for the new year, with a larger display, and very powerful components. However, it does step on the toes of the bigger Triton 500 SE, so let’s see how Acer will differentiate it from its bigger sibling.

Today we’re giving you a quick overview of the Acer Predator Triton 300 SE (PT316-51s).

The Acer Predator Triton 300 SE (PT316-51s) is available now with a starting price of $1,749.99.

Acer Predator Triton 300 SE (PT316-51s): Full Specs

Design

The Triton keeps its aluminum shell from last year, along with the heat vents on the back. However, it swaps the place where the Predator logo is situated, which is all fair game to us. With the increased size, the weight also increases, up to 2.40 kg, while the profile remains thin, at 21.9 mm. Despite more real estate, the keyboard still lacks a NumPad. This leads to space on the left and right sides of the keyboard, which isn’t used for audio, as the speaker grills are still found on the bottom.

Display

The laptop uses a 16-inch IPS display with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a QHD+ resolution. It also has either a 165Hz or a 240Hz refresh rate, which is not only good for gaming but also makes the laptop feel smoother to use in general. The SE versions of the Triton 300 and 500 generally come with Color accurate displays that can be used for Content Creation.

Specifications and features

In terms of hardware, you have the Core i5-12500H and the Core i7-12700H, which are very powerful CPUs, if cooled properly. For graphics, you have both the iGPU and the discrete RTX 30-series, starting from the RTX 3050 Ti and going as high as the RTX 3070 Ti, so you’ve got a lot of room to play with, depending on what you need.

The laptop does include a fingerprint reader, which is a rare sight in gaming devices. The I/O consists of two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 2) ports, one Thunderbolt 4 port, an HDMI 2.1 port, a MicroSD card reader, an Ethernet port, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
