Design
Both ProBook laptops share the same design, with a fully aluminum chassis and lid construction, which means extra durability and an overall lower thickness. The 14 and 15-inch machines both have a profile of 19.81 mm, which we’d consider portable. On the other hand, the bigger laptop is heavier as well, weighing 1.75 kg, whereas the smaller 14-inch machine has a weight of only 1.38 kg.
On the base, there’s a long horizontal speaker grill, as well as a backlit keyboard. There’s also a fingerprint reader below the keyboard. Around the display, the bezels are pretty thin, however, the good stuff is all in the top one. While the base configuration offers only a 720p snapper, you can upgrade to a 5MP camera with an IR sensor for facial recognition.
In terms of ports, the two devices come with the same selection of three USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, one USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 2) port, an HDMI 2.1 port, a LAN port, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
Display
The display selection features both TN and IPS panels. The entry configuration comes with an HD TN panel, which we don’t recommend. Then, the IPS options come with either 250 nits of brightness and around 50% sRGB coverage, or 400 nits of brightness and 100% sRGB coverage, so if you’re gunning for a creator-ready laptop, you know where to look.
Specifications and features
The hardware options of the ProBooks include three Ryzen 7000-series processors. There are the Ryzen 3 7330U, the Ryzen 5 7530U, and the Ryzen 7 7730U. All three of these CPUs use the Zen 3 architecture and are pretty much disguised versions of the Ryzen 3 5400U, the Ryzen 5 5600U, and Ryzen 7 5800U. They even have the same Vega-integrated graphics, with the Vega 6, Vega 7, and Vega 8. In terms of upgradeability, the laptops supposedly bring two SODIMM slots for memory upgrades, but we’d have to get the laptops in hand in order to check this out. For now, you should know that the ProBooks are quality notebooks for both business and regular use, as everyone can use the feature set in their daily lives.
