The Aspire S 13 is Acer’s take on Apple’s MacBook Air with almost half the price
Acer just proved it can produce premium devices as good as its budget selection of notebooks but the Aspire S 13 is kind of best of both worlds. The Acer Aspire S 13 is an excellent ultrabook with a starting price of just $699 and surpassing most of its competitors on the hardware front.
The device is just 14.8 mm thin and includes all the essential connectivity options – USB-C, USB 3.0, SD card reader and even an HDMI port. The base model offers Core i3 CPU but it can go up to Core i7 with up to 8GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. Thanks to Acer’s nano-imprint lithography process, the notebook is built of aluminum with rubberized finish for a better grip on the lid. Also, the laptop adopts some familiar design features from the Aspire V Nitro lineup with the textures and elegant hinge design along with the similar to other Aspire V models chamfered edges around the touchpad and edges. At just 1.3 kg, the Aspire S 13 feels sturdy and portable as hell.
However, the weight can go up to 1.36 kg if you need the touch-enabled variant but both, the base and touch model, offer Full HD (1920×1080) IPS panel.
