It’s time for another article summarizing the top 5 pros and cons of a laptop. In our case, this is a convertible suitable for business purposes – the Acer Spin 5 (SP513-52).

4 reasons to buy Acer Spin 5 (SP513-52)

    1. Aluminum convertible concept

Acer has decided to focus on durability using an all aluminum design for the construction of the convertible. With a thickness of 15.9 mm, Acer Spin 5 (SP513-52) weighs just 1.5 kg which creates a feeling of sturdiness and reliability. In addition, one of the most notable features of the device is the ability to flip its display seamlessly, which is mostly due to the hinges of good quality.

    2. Blazing performance for a low-voltage CPU

Under its hood, the 2-in-1 packs the low-voltage Intel Core i7-8550U processor. With a total of 4 cores, it ticks at a base frequency of 1.8 GHz while Turbo Boost frequencies are pretty high – between 3.7 – 4.0 GHz. Therefore, the multi-core and single-core performance during short workloads are more than decent.

    3. Accurate display colors

We were also pleasantly surprised by the convertible’s display. The comfortable viewing angles, very high contrast of 1280:1, as well as 96% sRGB coverage, contribute to the appealing visual experience. And when combined with our customized profiles, the overall image quality certainly becomes significantly better. What’s more, the adequate touchscreen in combination with the adaptive stylus is a key selling point.

    4. Good battery life

Acer Spin 5 (SP513-52) also sports a reasonable 53.9 Wh battery unit which provides 9 hours and 31 minutes of Web surfing time and 9 hours and 8 minutes of video playback. Quite expectedly, the gaming runtimes are not so good but we doubt that if you decided to run your favorite titles on a business convertible, you are going to do so away from the plug.

1 reason NOT to buy Acer Spin 5 (SP513-52)

    1. Brightness is PWM-adjusted at low levels (fixed by the Health-Guard profile)

Unfortunately, our equipment detected a presence of PWM at levels below 28% (76 nits). In other words, one’s eyes won’t experience any harmful effects unless you use the device at night and bring the brightness all the way to the minimum. In this case, we recommend checking our Health-Guard profile, which eliminates PWM and also reduces the negative blue light emissions.
