Top 5 reasons to BUY or NOT to buy the Huawei MatePad Pro

As Huawei was ramping up and was on the way to become the biggest electronics and smart devices manufacturer, the US hit them hard and put them on the Blacklist of companies that are forbidden to do business with American companies.

Today we will see how this is affecting the newest Huawei MatePad Pro and show you some of its best features and check out if the lack of Google services is hindering the experience in any way.

Today we are presenting you with LaptopMedia’s Top 5 picks about the Huawei MatePad Pro.

Here is our in-depth review of the Huawei MatePad Pro: https://laptopmedia.com/review/huawei-matepad-pro-review-do-you-need-google-play-services/

3 reasons to BUY the Huawei MatePad Pro

    1. Design and Build quality

The tablet uses magnesium alloy, instead of aluminum for its frame, which results in an even lighter weight of just only 460 grams. The use of magnesium also means that no antenna lines are visible. While the device isn’t the thinnest out there, with a profile of 7.9mm, it actually improves the usability and makes it very comfortable to handle and use. The bezels are also relatively slim and the hole punch camera is a modern touch.

    2. The good parts of the Display

The 10.8-inch IPS touchscreen display on the MatePad Pro has a resolution of 2560×1600p and an aspect ratio of 16:10, making for a very crisp image. The settings offer two display modes “Normal” and “Vivid”. The screen itself has relatively comfortable viewing angles, decent maximum brightness, and a high-enough contrast ratio. In “Normal” mode it covers 96% of the sRGB color gamut, which spreads to 98% of the DCI-P3 gamut when you use the “Vivid” mode.

    3. The Speakers

The MadePad Pro features a quad-speaker setup that is tuned by the sound company Harman/Kardon, which are specialists when it comes to audio. The speakers deliver deep and loud sounds, with no deviations across the entire frequency range.

2 reasons NOT to buy the Huawei MatePad Pro

    1. The Software

In terms of software, the MatePad Pro uses EMUI 10. The overall experience reminds us of iOS a lot, which many Android smartphones have tried to replicate. It is definitely a great and colorful UI, that is packed with features. However the lack of Google Services will upset many of you and it is definitely a tricky situation. While more tech-savvy people will know how to sideload apps, the general consumer prefers the simplicity of having the Play Store. Huawei’s App Galley somewhat fixes that, but it still has plenty of room to grow.

    2. The bad parts of the Display

While the display is crisp with vibrant colors, its color accuracy is all over the place. With our test, which uses the 24 most commonly used colors, we provided results of the color accuracy both in “Normal” and “Vivid” mode.

    “Normal” display mode

    “Vivid” display mode
