What to expect from LG at the MWC 2016 event in Barcelona
The Mobile World Congress has always been one of the most anticipated tech events of the year. We’ve seen plenty of top-tier devices being announced at it over the past couple of years and we’re expecting some interesting new flagship additions this year too. Once again we’re sending our team to cover everything exciting and new that’s happening there. We’ll be attending the special events of all major manufacturers and keep you posted with all the details.
In this article, we’ll try to sum up what you can expect from LG at this year’s MWC since it looks like the South Korean manufacturer will again be one of the most active participants in the conference. The reason for this is the confirmation that LG’s new flagship smartphone, LG G5, will be revealed for the first time in Barcelona. Furthermore, there have been a couple of other interesting devices that were announced in the past couple of days and we’re hoping to see them there as well.
LG G5
LG G5 is undoubtedly the model worthy of receiving the most attention. Its name is even in this year LG’s official invitation for their upcoming event. Here’s what we know about the model so far.
Last week, LG confirmed that the G5 will have the Always ON feature available by posting about it on their Facebook page, even though they didn’t exactly specify anything about it. Regardless, we’re guessing that it’s going to be something unique and interesting since the manufacturer’s trying to draw our attention with it. Furthermore, we see a couple of other smartphones on the background of the video hinting the shape of the device.
Another official leak about the capabilities of the phone was found on Qualcomm’s Twitter profile. The SoC manufacturer is confirming that the LG G5 will boast their new Snapdragon 820 mobile chip, which we’re looking forward to testing as soon as we get our hands on it.

Aside from all the official information that’s been revealed about the upcoming flagship device, there have been a couple of unofficial leaks that seem pretty interesting. For example, evleaks states that the G5 will have a secondary screen. There isn’t any additional information or details about the statement, but if it turns out to be true, we’re guessing that the second display will be similar to the one of V10.

Other leaks suggest that the smartphone will have a special slot that supports additional accessories. For example, you can add an extension, for increased battery life or comfortable physical camera buttons. You can even add a device boosting the quality of the audio.
К lineup
Earlier this year, LG announced their new K series as the first models from the lineup are K10 and K7. You can expect our full in-depth review of K10 in the near future. Anyway, LG K4 was revealed soon after the announcement of the aforementioned models while the K8 popped up on LG’s official website in Hungary literally a couple of days ago. We’re guessing that all these devices, and perhaps a couple of new additions to the K lineup, will be present at LG’s “booth”, during the MWC 2016 conference.
X lineup
LG also announced their new X series a couple of days ago. The first two models from the lineup are called X cam and X screen, and as you’ve probably already guessed, the main focus of the devices is in the camera and screen, respectively. X cam has two rear cameras (13MP and 5MP) and one 8MP front-facing shooter. We’re expecting to find out more information about the phones at MWC. The rest of the specs, known so far, include 5.2-inch Full HD screen, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and 2520mAh battery.
The unique feature of X screen is the secondary display, located at the top, similar to the one on V10. The main screen measures at 4.93-inch and has HD resolution while the second one is 1.76-inch LCD (520 x 80). The rest of the specs sheet includes 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, 2300 mAh battery, 13MP rear camera and 8MP front-facing one.
Both, the X cam and X screen, will be officially revealed in a couple of days at Barcelona and according to unofficial information from evleaks, we can expect to see a couple of other handsets to the lineup, later this year – X max, X speed, X style and X power.
LG just pre-announced the X cam and X screen for MWC. Coming later in the year: X max, X speed, X style, and X power.

LG Stylus 2
Another interesting smartphone we’re looking forward to seeing at MWC 2016 is LG Stylus 2. The device was announced a couple of days and is a direct successor to last year’s G4 Stylus. LG Stylus 2 has a 5.7-inch HD screen, quad-core CPU clocked at 1.2GHz, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, 3000mAh battery, 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing shooter. The device measures at 7.4mm thickness and 145 grams weight. Also, the phablet comes with a stylus and has a couple of nice software additions (Pop Memo and Pop Scanner) to the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.
Smart Home and VR glasses
Aside from the smartphone models, LG is going to release a couple of Smart home devices and virtual reality glasses.
