    Review

    Acer TravelMate P2 in-depth review

We were pretty pleased with the performance of the Acer TravelMate P2 (TMP216-51) and now it's time to test its G2 version which isn't that different. Of course, there are some fresh things under the hood like new CPU options. The TMP216-51-G2 is offered with 15W Raptor Lake-U / Refresh processors. The upgradability remains great, you even get an optional SATA slot. The port selection is a bit better than the predecessor because of the extra Thunderbolt 4 connector. When it comes to displays, you can choose from two 1200p IPS units. Acer claims 100% sRGB coverage for the optional panel (still, we can't confirm that at the moment). Our laptop has the base screen which isn't something special but it's PWM-free and that's very important if you plan to use the device for long hours of work.[...]

    Disassembly, maintenance and upgrade options

Opening the Acer TravelMate P2 Hint: Power off the device and unplug all cables before starting disassembly.Undo the 13 Phillips-head screws securing the bottom panel to the chassis. Use a thin plastic tool to pop the top two edges of the panel. Continue prying along the sides and the back, then finish with the front to fully release the clips.More info: The bottom panel includes a dedicated socket that secures the battery and provides structural integrity.Battery Removal Caution: Handle the battery and connectors with care to avoid damage or short circuits.
