Acer Nitro V 15 (ANV15-41) Shocks With a Super Color-Accurate Panel (dE 1.1)

Do you want a thin and light Creator laptop with gaming capabilities? If you do, you must check out the Acer Nitro V 15 (ANV15-41), which passed our lab tests with flying colors (In-depth Review). Yes, the performance of the laptop is good, considering the lower budget, but the display quality is what surprised us the most.

The model that we reviewed is powered by a Ryzen 5 7535HS and an RTX 3050 with a 6GB frame buffer and a 65W power limit, a combo that can handle rendering and video editing, especially for beginners. The display that we so undeniably like has a Full HD+ resolution (1920 x 1080p) and a 165Hz refresh rate, which is ideal for gaming. For more about the panel though, keep reading.

Display quality

The display of the Acer Nitro V 15 (ANV15-41) covers 97% of the sRGB gamut as well as 79% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, which means vibrant and punchy colors. On top of that, the brightness reaches 341 nits as a peak, as well as a high contrast ratio of 1280:1. If you want to check out the rest of our display tests (there’s a lot), check out the display section of our review.

The color accuracy is even more important for having a true-to-life experience when viewing content. We measure color accuracy using a dE, which is the distance between real colors and how you see them on screen. The bigger the dE value, the less accurate the colors are. With the stock settings, the Nitro V 15’s display gives a dE of 4.4. Once we apply our Design and Gaming profile, the dE drops down to 1.1, which is a 4X Increase. All you need for a panel to be considered Creator-ready is a dE below 2.0, so with 1.1, you’re ready to go.

Office Work

Office Work should be used mostly by users who spend most of the time looking at pieces of text, tables or just surfing. This profile aims to deliver better distinctness and clarity by keeping a flat gamma curve (2.20), native color temperature and perceptually accurate colors.

Design and Gaming

This profile is aimed at designers who work with colors professionally, and for games and movies as well. Design and Gaming takes display panels to their limits, making them as accurate as possible in the sRGB IEC61966-2-1 standard for Web and HDTV, at white point D65.

Health-Guard

Health-Guard eliminates the harmful Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) and reduces the negative Blue Light which affects our eyes and body. Since it’s custom tailored for every panel, it manages to keep the colors perceptually accurate. Health-Guard simulates paper so the pressure on the eyes is greatly reduced.
