Elon Musk’s new company Neuralink will develop high-tech devices that will shorten the gap between humans and computers

Nowadays, you will hardly find anyone who hasn’t heard of Elon Musk. His entrepreneurship has affected and changed for the better our daily lives. Apparently, there are no limits for the man behind Tesla, SpaceX, and PayPal. His next venture is called Neuralink and it’s a company developing technology that could potentially merge the human brain with computers.

Elon Musk changes our daily lives and many industries with his products ranging from mass-produces electric vehicles to reusable space rockets and an easy way to pay online. Now he will play a major role in financing a California-based neuroscience startup which idea is to create some sort of a brain implant that can merge the human consciousness with the AI of a computer.

According to the company, this technology could be used for the treatment of neurological diseases and disorders of the nervous system like epilepsy and Parkinson’s. Other uses could include enhancing the brain and expanding human potentials and developing an improved more natural interaction with computers.

Neuralink has reportedly already hired a few academics in the field of neuroscience including flexible electrodes and nanotechnology expert Dr. Venessa Tolosa, UCSF professor Philip Sabes, and Boston University professor Timothy Gardner. The company plans to present a working prototype of the technology before continuing with more advanced and ambitious goals. However, human-computer hybrids are far from reality and are still in the realm of science fiction. The presented prototype will probably be an implant or device that will aid in the treatment of diseases and disorders.
