Looking for a gaming notebook without PWM? Acer Predator G9-791 got you covered
When we said that the notebook passed all of our display tests with flying colors yesterday, we really meant it. So if you are looking for a good display that doesn’t cause eye fatigue, your first guess should be the Predator G9-791 or the G-Sync variant of the ASUS ROG G751.
Still, if you don’t want the expensive G-Sync chip inside your notebook, but instead a UHD resolution, the Predator got you covered. You can see that the Predator’s display doesn’t use PWM across all brightness levels, according to our oscilloscope.
If you are not familiar with what PWM actually is, we suggest reading this short article explaining all of this: http://laptopmedia.com/highlights/what-is-pwm-why-is-it-important-and-why-did-we-add-this-test-to-our-reviews/
We’ll keep you posted until the full review is released.
