MSI GV62 7RC is the company’s newest budget gaming notebook. It is equipped with the new NVIDIA GeForce MX150 graphics card which seems like it will change the concept of budget gaming. Spec-wise the GV62 7RC won’t blow your mind but it incorporates lots of MSI’s exclusive features which puts it one step ahead of the competition.

You can check out all available MSI gaming notebooks over here: http://amzn.to/2usCEtz

First of all, let’s start off with the specs of the notebook. In the product’s official page it is listed “up to 7th generation Intel Core i7” so we assume that there will be two models – one with Core i7-7700HQ and one with Core i5-7300HQ and possibly a third one with Core i3-7100. The GPU the same no matter the CPU configuration – you get the new GeForce MX150 which has 2 GB of GDDR5 memory and it is said to be over 64% faster than the GTX 940MX.

You can put up to 32 GB of DDR4 2400 MHz RAM inside your configuration. Storage options include one 2.5-inch SATA slot and one M.2 slot which supports NVMe SSDs. Apparently, you can choose between two displays but the information is rather vague. Of course, both options are 15.6-inch panels with Full HD (1920 x 1080p) resolution. One of the options is listed as an “IPS-level” display which probably means that it has the same quality as an IPS panel. The other one is listed as “Wide-View” which has 170+ degrees viewing angles and 94% NTSC coverage.

And now, let’s continue with GV62 7RC’s exclusive features. The notebook features MSI Matrix Display technology which supports up to two external monitors simultaneously via one HDMI and one mini DisplayPort. This way you can have up to three active monitors at the same time for advanced multitasking. The GV62  supports up to 4K video output with 30 fps.

GV62 also features MSI’s Cooler Boost technology which should keep the temperatures 5 to 10% lower thanks to its advanced cooling design thus unlocking the full potential of the GPU and CPU. This combined with MSI SHIFT can push your notebook’s performance to the limit. SHIFT dynamically adjusts performance and power settings to provide the best experience. It has a few profiles that will suit different needs.

The included Nahimic 2+ 3D sound technology provides 360 degrees surround sound. It emulates the depth of a real 7.1 sound system. In addition, the Audio Boost technology enhances sound detail to provide an even more immersive gaming experience when using headphones.

The GV62 7RC also features a SteelSeries keyboard with a beautiful red backlighting and 1.9 mm of key travel. The anti-ghosting technology of the keyboard lets you press up to 45 keys at the same time which won’t happen even if your cat walks through it.

And lastly, an interesting offer by MSI. Purchasing the GV62 7RC gifts you with two months of free membership for WTFast – a private gaming network that reduces ping because it uses its own closed data path.

It’s hard to say an approximate battery life. We haven’t tested the notebook ourselves. The battery unit is not too big – just 41 Wh so you shouldn’t expect too much. However, the MX150 has a very low power consumption so maybe anywhere from at least 4 to 6 hours of video playback and web browsing is a reasonable assumption.

Hey! Is any review planned on this laptop? I would be especially interested in its display quality. Has it improved compared to previous models? The so-called “IPS-level” in specs still sounds suspicious for me.
I would be grateful for your reply. Thanks!
