MSI PS63 Modern – fresh out of the oven

Enough with these updated machines. We need something fresh and MSI delivers. It’s a slender playboy that we are talking about – MSI PS63 Modern is its name.

You can check its in-depth specs and more information here: https://laptopmedia.com/series/msi-ps63-modern/

The first thing that grabs your attention is this laptop’s design. It is super elegant while not being flashy in any way. MSI actually stresses that specific attention has been paid to the PS63 Modern’s style. We are more than happy to see the sandblasted texture finished with carbon gray and blue trim along the edges. After all, this device is meant for content creators and it’s great that its looks can serve as an additional source of inspiration.

Moving on to the hardware, the processor you can get is the Intel Core i7-8565U which is 20th in our Top Laptop CPU Ranking. Additionally, the choice of graphics cards boils down to the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Max-Q (4GB GDDR5) and Intel UHD Graphics 620. Memory-wise, up to 32 GB of RAM is what you get, and we are aware that the current configs offer up to a 512GB SSD for storage (but there are two slots, so other options are possible).

Also important to note is the fact that the PS63 Modern is super compact and mobile. It weighs only 1.6 kg and is 15.9 mm thick. What’s more impressive is that MSI claims the laptop can ensure up to 16 hours of battery life!

MSI PS63 Modern offers a 15.6-inch IPS screen with Full HD resolution and close to 100% sRGB color gamut coverage, which is very important for color-sensitive work. It also impresses with its ultra-thin bezels which make it a marvel to look at. Despite being thin, the slender machine has all the necessary connectors – a single USB Type-C 3.0, four USB Type-A (3.0 and 3.1) ports, HDMImicroSD card reader, and more. Last but not least, you are presented with a fingerprint scanner for enhanced security.

As for the competition, a similar laptop is the ASUS ZenBook 15 UX533.

That was the layout for my first generation core-i3 Dell laptop and became an automatic movement. Being able to reach the Enter key without jumping over the Shift key is very efficient. The rest of the design is about what I would like depending on the display panel and whether there is a PWM problem for my eyes. My current laptop is set at about 8% of the maximum brightness because… Read more »
