The Display of the Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 (PHN16-72) Is Not Only Super Bright, but Very Accurate Too (dE 1.0)
We really like the new 2024 gaming laptops and how much their displays have improved. The Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 (PHN16-72) is a prime example, with a stunning 16-inch QHD+ IPS panel with a 240Hz refresh rate.
To drive all these pixels to update 240 times a second, the laptop needs serious power. Acer has taken care of that, with up to a Core i9-14900HX and a 140W RTX 4070. The screen here has a standard backlight but reaches a peak brightness of 526 nits covering a wide color gamut.
Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 (PHN16-72): Full Specs / In-depth Review
Display quality
The panel of the Helios Neo 16 covers 100% of the sRGB gamut and 99% of the DCI-P3 gamut. Paired with the high brightness, you can expect punchy, vibrant, and sharp colors with tons of depth. Inside the Predator Sense software, you can shrink the color gamut to only sRGB, in case you’re working on a web-based design project. If you’re unfamiliar with color gamuts and what each is good for, you can check the display section of our review.
Now, for what we’re really here, the color accuracy. We measure it in DeltaE (dE). It is the distance between the colors of the display and the real ones, with the lower the DE value, the more accurate the colors will be. Before applying our Web Design and Office Work profile, the color accuracy was measured at a dE of 2.0, which is rather close, but still not on the level for being ready for professional color work.
After applying our profile, the display becomes 2 times more accurate, with a dE of 1.0. You should also know that dE values below 1.0 are indistinguishable by the human eye, so with a 1.0, you’re essentially getting real-life colors.

Office Work
Office Work should be used mostly by users who spend most of the time looking at pieces of text, tables or just surfing. This profile aims to deliver better distinctness and clarity by keeping a flat gamma curve (2.20), native color temperature and perceptually accurate colors.
Design and Gaming
This profile is aimed at designers who work with colors professionally, and for games and movies as well. Design and Gaming takes display panels to their limits, making them as accurate as possible in the sRGB IEC61966-2-1 standard for Web and HDTV, at white point D65.
Health-Guard
Health-Guard eliminates the harmful Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) and reduces the negative Blue Light which affects our eyes and body. Since it’s custom tailored for every panel, it manages to keep the colors perceptually accurate. Health-Guard simulates paper so the pressure on the eyes is greatly reduced.
