The MSI GE73VR 7RF doesn’t use PWM above 17% brightness

We put the MSI GE73VR 7RF to some tests in order to evaluate the quality of its screen and the results were a rather mixed bag. Unfortunately, the brightness level of the device is PWM-adjusted from 0 to 17% brightness, but we also have to note that it does it with very a high frequency (26 kHz), therefore it is not a major concern and can be used for continuous work as it wouldn’t have such a negative impact on most users.

In other words, the screen flickers only up to 75 nits of luminance and this will affect only buyers with extra sensitive eyes. However, if this is an issue for you, we recommend installing our Health-Guard profile, which eliminates PWM and also reduces the negative blue light emissions.

Still, if you haven’t made up your mind whether the ASUS ZenBook UX430 is the right one for you, we suggest browsing our PWM ranking for laptops with similar or better PWM rating.

Stay tuned for our in-depth review.
