ASUS Vivobook 16X (M1603) review – a product with a high value and low price

    Design and construction

To keep the price down, ASUS has created this laptop’s body entirely out of plastic. It comes in Blue and Silver (which is the one we have with us today). It weighs 1.88 kilos and has a profile of 19.9mm.

This is pretty good for a 16-inch notebook. Well, both the body and the lid are prone to flex, but we’ve seen a lot worse. Thankfully, twisting the laptop doesn’t end up ghost-pressing random keys, or the touchpad.

Unfortunately, the lid can’t be opened with a single hand. However, the matte display (in the case of the IPS panel) has thin bezels around it. And above it, you will find an HD Web camera with a privacy shutter on top. It’s a bit difficult to grip the privacy shutter, but at least there is one.

Down below, there is the keyboard. It lacks a backlight but features a NumberPad section. The key caps are pretty large, the key travel is long, and the feedback is clicky. This makes it really comfortable for typing.

But this is not all – the touchpad is super big, and comes with a very smooth surface. In addition, you will take advantage of accurate tracking, and quick response times.

If you turn the laptop upside down, you will see the ordinary stuff – two speaker cutouts, and a ventilation grill. Interestingly, the hot air is exhausted through two vents – one on the left side, and one between the base and the lid.

    Ports

On the left side, there is a USB Type-A 2.0 port. This leaves the rest of the ports to the right. There, you will find the power plug, an HDMI 1.4 connector, two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, a USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 1) port, and an Audio jack. Unfortunately, the USB Type-C port can only be used for data transfers.

Driver from the Asus website does not fix the issue with WLAN! Wi-Fi still not working after installing Win 11 and official drivers

I put a new SSD and when formatting with Windows 10 the wifi did not work, so I put a USB to Ethernet adapter and with Windows updates the correct driver was installed, maybe with Win11 it is the same.

    Cool review guys 🙂

With the display profiles you are selling. Do they expand the coverage of SRGB at all? As it doesn’t say exactly how they differ except the de

sRGB coverage is a limitation of the hardware. The only thing calibration can do is balance the display if it is skewed towards a certain colour.
