ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold OLED (UX9702) review – is there a future for foldables?

    Temperatures and comfort, Battery Life

    Max CPU load

In this test we use 100% on the CPU cores, monitoring their frequencies and chip temperature. The first column shows a computer’s reaction to a short load (2-10 seconds), the second column simulates a serious task (between 15 and 30 seconds), and the third column is a good indicator of how good the laptop is for long loads such as video rendering.

Average P-core frequency; Average E-core frequency; CPU temp.; Package Power

    Intel Core i7-1250U (9W TDP)0:02 – 0:10 sec0:15 – 0:30 sec10:00 – 15:00 min

    HP Envy x360 13 (13-bf0000)2.89 GHz @ 2.23 GHz @ 90°C @ 45W2.90 GHz @ 2.26 GHz @ 90°C @ 30W2.57 GHz @ 1.97 GHz @ 74°C @ 24W

As you can see, the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED (UX9702) manages to successfully run the Core i7-1250U above its base TDP limit. However, it performs worse than the HP Envy x360 13 (13-bf0000). This is not unexpected, though.

    Comfort during full load

In regards to the comfort, we have to say that the experience is almost like the laptop didn’t run anything. Yes, the top part heated up, but it is really nice that ASUS put the motherboard in the portion, which does not sit on your lap. Interestingly, the fan produces a slight grinding noise, which is very mild, but slightly annoying.

    Battery

Now, we conduct the battery tests with the Windows Better performance setting turned on, screen brightness adjusted to 120 nits and all other programs turned off except for the one we are testing the notebook with. Its 75Wh battery pack lasts for 12 hours and 5 minutes of Web browsing, or 11 hours and 55 minutes of video playback on a single charge.
