Dell XPS 15 9530 review – it doesn’t even need to be changed

    Design and construction

Unsurprisingly, the design of this product hasn’t changed whatsoever. It is still made out of aluminum and carbon fiber, and it retains its super slim body. All of that sits at a weight of 1.92 kg for the IPS model, and 1.96 kg for the OLED option.

It is always scandalous to see how rigid this laptop’s lid actually is. In fact, it is more flex-resistant than the base. The tolerances there are so thin, that the touchpad registers clicks when you twist the base too much.

Thankfully, opening the lid is an easy task for one hand. Its bezels are super thin – almost nonexistent. Dell was even able to put in an HD Web camera and an IR face recognition scanner.

When we look at the base we see the familiar woven carbon fiber finish with two speakers surrounding the keyboard. The power button is located in the top-right corner of the board and doubles as a fingerprint reader. As for comfort, it has decent key travel and clicky feedback.

Below it, you can see a huge touchpad. It has a super smooth surface, accurate tracking, and super-fast response.

In addition to the two front-firing speakers, you get two on the bottom. Here, you will also find the ventilation grill. Hot air, respectively, gets exhausted through a vent on the back of the base.

    Ports

On the left side, you get a security lock slot and two Thunderbolt 4 ports. Then, on the right, you get an Audio jack, an SD card slot, and a USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 2) port with Power Delivery and DisplayPort functionality.

I can comment on the display since I have this and the 4K. The difference is huge. 4k display is much, but much, better. This display is blurry compared to the 4K. When you get a 4K laptop and you go back to FHD+ you will notice for sure. Just my 2 cents for the people who have doubts about which one to buy. 4K, it’s worth the money.
