Dynabook Portege X30L-K review – this is an exquisite business notebook

Verdict

Dynabook has created a laptop worth the attention of every lady and gentleman out there. It is really classy and absurdly light. Its magnesium chassis is the main reason for its fantastic portability – it weighs only 904 grams (according to Dynabook).

Well, the Alder Lake P-series CPUs won’t perform up to the standard, but short bursts of high clocks can be expected. On the bright side, the battery life is stellar – we got 16 hours and 30 minutes of Web browsing, or 12 hours of video playback on a single charge.

Dynabook Portege X30L-K’s IPS panel has a Full HD resolution, high maximum brightness, a very good contrast ratio, and comfortable viewing angles. It uses PWM but only up to 140 nits, and with a very high frequency, which makes the display rather comfortable for long use.

Furthermore, the panel covers 98% of sRGB, and more importantly is able to reproduce the colors in this space extremely accurately. Well, this is with the help of our Gaming and Web design profile – the default values are not very good.

Unfortunately, the memory is soldered to the motherboard. However, the maximum capacity you can go for is 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM, working at 4800MHz. It is the fast memory that gives its integrated GPU a ton of performance headroom. And if you have a lot of data, you can store it on the Gen 4 SSD inside.

Until this point, the laptop looks pretty fine. But the feature package it comes with is absolutely fantastic. There is an HD Web camera with a privacy shutter. It is paired with an IR face recognition scanner, while a fingerprint reader found its way on the touchpad (although it cripples it a little).

In addition to that, the keyboard is great – long key travel, clicky feedback, spill-resistance, finger massage, and blood sugar detection. Well, the last two are the only things the Dynabook Portege X30L-K lacks in terms of features.

Even the port selection is amazing – there are two Thunderbolt 4 connectors, two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 2) ports, a MicroSD card slot, a SIM card tray, a Smart card reader, an HDMI connector, and even a LAN port! On a 13-inch business laptop! That weighs 904 grams. What?!

Make yourself a favor and consider the Dynabook Portege X30L-K for your next premium business notebook. Yes, it has some downsides, but you got to go for its feature-packed hipster vibe.
