[35 Gaming tests and videos] NVIDIA GeForce MX350 [25W] vs NVIDIA GeForce MX350 [10W] – the 25W version is 17% faster but the 10W GPU is an honest offer

The mobile budget GPU market is crowded with so many different inexpensive video cards – starting with products like the GeForce MX110 and we can go as high as GeForce MX350 (25W). As for AMD, they offer the RX 640 and a bunch of powerful Zen 2 iGPUs.

Speaking of the GeForce MX series, we already have two dedicated articles for both TGP versions of the green budget king – for the GeForce MX350 (25W) and for the GeForce MX350 (10W) as well. This time we are going to compare these two head to head.

Let’s inspect how far ahead is the 25W version and if it’s worth buying it instead of the smaller GPU.

Specs overview

The NVIDIA GeForce MX350 (25W) is the successor of the MX250. It uses the same chip as the GTX 1050 – the memory bus is cut to 64-bit and the TGP is lowered to 25W. This a Pascal video card that and it’s based on the GP107 chip. We have 640 shader units and 16 ROPs. The base and the boost frequencies are 1354 MHz and 1468 MHz. As for the memory, it’s set to 7008 MHz.

The 10W version is exactly the same GPU but it has 10W TGP. Expectedly, the core clocks are greatly decreased to 747 MHz and 937 MHz.

Performance summary (gaming tests)

The overall result isn’t that different compared to the synthetic benchmarks – the 25W variant is 17% faster on average when compared to the 10W one

Verdict

The difference between these two budget NVIDIA offerings is noticeable. However, both of them have their own place in the market. The 25W GPUs is 17% faster, most games run better on it, and if your main goal is to buy a budget machine for games, well, the GeForce MX350 (25W) is a possible solution. You can play light games like CS:GO and Dota 2 with a high FPS value, and newer and heavier games like Borderlands 3 run with 40-ish frames (and even lower)  on Low.

The GeForce MX350 (10W) is suitable for light and slim machines. It has just a 10W TGP but the performance that it brings to the table is acceptable. And it’s faster than the dedicated AMD offering – the RX 640.
