[Comparison] Intel Core i7-1255U vs Intel Core i7-1195G7 – is this the best ULV CPU Intel has ever made?
The Core i7-1195G7 is the most souped-up Tiger Lake U-series CPU that you’ll find, so it should be the best available competition against the Core i7-1255U, which so far hasn’t lost a battle against a competitor in its class. However, the former is a pretty limited CPU, being found in a small sample size of notebooks. Regardless, you’re getting a bunch of 4-core/8-thread goodness and a max TDP of 28W. On the other hand, the more modern chip has a lower TDP, and more cores, so we’re talking about different performance philosophies.
Today we are comparing the Intel Core i7-1255U against the Core i7-1195G7.

CPU benchmarks
The Alder Lake CPU brings a lot more performance to the table, with a 52% score increase in the Cinebench 20 benchmark, while also being 1.4 seconds quicker.
Results are from the Cinebench R23 CPU test (the higher the score, the better)
Conclusion
The Core i7-1195G7 doesn’t deliver the performance that its specs would suggest. Our guess would be that the cooling is the problem, however, all laptops with the same CPU that we have tested act in the same way. All, in all, the lesser version of the i7-1195G7, the 1165G7 delivers much better performance, which still isn’t enough to combat the Core i7-1255U.
