Intel Core i7-10510U vs i7-9750H – the Coffee Lake CPU is much faster and more power-hungry

Comet Lake and Coffee Lake are on the frying pan again because we are about to compare the Core i7-10510U and i7-9750H. A ULV i7 CPU vs a powerhouse of a chip. Let’s see how this comparison will end.

Specs overview

If we have to talk about the bulk prices of the CPUs, Intel is asking $409 for the i7-10510U and $395 for i7-9750H. Only $14, that’s a small margin.

In terms of “paper” performance, it looks like the i7-9750H got much more horsepower under the hood. Core i7-10510U is an 8-thread CPU (4 cores, 8 threads) while i7-9750H got 12 threads (6 cores, 12 threads). Cache size – 8MB for the i7-10510U and 12MB for i7-9750H.

The base frequency of the Core i7-10510U is 1.80 GHz while i7-9750H’s is 2.60 GHz and the Boosts are 4.90 GHz (i7-10510U) and 4.50 GHz (i7-9750H). The TDP of the i7-10510U is 3 times lower (15W) than the i7-9750H TDP – 45W.

Core i7-10510U’s max memory support is 64GB (DDR4-2666, LPDDR3-2133) – i7-9750H can go up to 128 GB (DDR4-2666, LPDDR3-2133).
