How to open Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 14″ Gen 9 (14AHP9) – disassembly and upgrade options


Opening the Device

  1. Undo the six Torx-head screws securing the bottom panel.
  2. Use a lever tool to pop the back behind the hinge cover, focusing on the areas close to the top two edges.
  3. Pry the sides and the front, leaving the rear for last.

More info: The bottom plate has preinstalled cooling pads for the SSD and a large SMD power inductor on the motherboard.


Battery Removal

  1. Unplug the battery connector from the mainboard.
  2. Undo the three Phillips-head screws securing the battery.
  3. Lift the battery to remove it from the device.

Note: This laptop is equipped with an 84Wh battery, providing approximately 9 hours of video playback.


Memory Information

Note: The memory is soldered, but you get up to 32GB of LPDDR5x-6400MHz RAM in dual-channel mode, which should be sufficient for most users.

Storage Upgrade

  1. Locate the single M.2 slot compatible with 2242 Gen 4 SSDs.
  2. Install the new SSD in the slot.

Note: Interestingly, the NVMe drive isn’t additionally cooled by a thermal pad.
