Inside Acer Aspire E 15 (E5-575G) – disassembly, internal photos and upgrade options

Finally, Acer started putting those service lids where they belong! Better late than never, right? Anyway, this article is aimed for the budget-friendly Aspire E 15 (E5-575G), which is an updated version of its predecessor in terms of design, hardware, and usability. Here’s what hides under the bottom cover.

You can find the notebook’s price and configurations here: http://amzn.to/2chdGDJ

1. Removing the service lid

If you are going to upgrade RAM or storage, you are in for a super easy upgrade. All you have to do is pop open the service lid and you will see this.

You will have access to the 2.5-inch HDD, which in our case is a Seagate 1TB unit. If you want to, you can stick in an M.2 SATA SSD located next to the RAM slots. There are three holes that should fit the three most used standards – 2280, 2260 and 2232.

As for the RAM slots, they are two one of which is taken by an 8GB DDR4-2133 chip.

2. Removing the back cover

If you wish to proceed for whatever reason, you should remove all the screws around the bottom. There are a few located under the service lid and three holding the plate under the optical drive. So before you do anything else, make sure you’ve removed the optical drive and unscrewed the three bolts beneath it.

3. Battery and Wi-Fi module

The battery is located right between the hinges and can be removed quite easily. It’s rated at 41.4 Wh (2800 mAh).

dsc00014

The Wi-Fi card is right next to the battery pack manufactured by Qualcomm with model number QCNFA435.

4. Cooling system

The cooling system is modest and consists of only one heat pipe going through two main heatsinks for the CPU and GPU. The fan is located on the left side of the notebook pushing the hot air through the exhaust vent.

If the battery inside can’t be charged, will the laptop work with the charger plugged in? Because for some reason, even though the charger is OK, the battery will not charge and even if it’s plugged in, it turns off for lack of power

Try this. Remove the power cord. Remove bottom panel to access the battery. Remove the battery. Turn the unit upright. Hold down the power button for 10 seconds. Plug in the power cord and turn the laptop on. Does it boot up? If so, you can now shut down Windows, remove the power cord, and replace the battery. Try booting up again. Does the battery charge now? You may need to give it a minute or three before it shows that it’s charging.

When I game I feel that the air only coming out of a certain part of the exhaust vent , near the USB C port, and nowhere else. Its like the air only comes out of that certain part and I feel no air coming out in the front parts of the exhaust vent near the kensington lock area. Is this just me or everyone has it same? Please help me I am not sure if this how it worked or whatever? Thanks

Thanks for the manual and pictures. But there is a mistake in SSD dimentions. The smallest available SSD is 2042 not 2032.

Great Guide. I recently used the wrong charger on my Acer E15 E5-575G-76YK. There was a big spark and since then it won’t charge (works fine on battery). I opened it up (thanks to your guide), checked continuity on the power harness (is fine). Read online that some laptops have a polarity protection fuse. I don’t see such on this laptop, but can’t find a manual to verify. Do you know if there is a polarity protection on this model? Or have any thoughts what else I might check?
Thank you for your help.

Yeah I found other articles talking about these fuses, but I took my laptop apart again and couldn’t find such. I also took the power harness connector apart (motherboard side) and it looks fine. I metered it with the power plugged in and it was fine once, but then not… going to replace it ($10) and go from there 🙂
Thanks for the reply

Hello Rossen Pandev Thank you for the nice guide. I recently purchased this laptop. I just booted up first time only to see if it powers up then, switched hdd to ssd and installed a fresh copy of win 10. I cannot, and have tried over and over again to get the wifi to be recognised. I opened it up, the adapter is there. Except, with all drivers from the support website installed, I still do not get wifi or bluetooth in device manager. I think it may be a software issue (? acer launch manager something?) I am not… Read more »

Im having troubles with my acer. I cannot find anything identifying each part of the mother board. I have no knowledge in computer or fixing anything yet i somehow always figure out how to fix things… there is a tiny black reset switch of some sort that i need help identifying. in the “1.Removing the service lid” section of your post, the very last photo you have in that section. in the top left of that last photo, there is a tiny black switch surrounded by a tiny silver box. what does this little switch do??? it can be accessed… Read more »

that little switch is for working in battery mode, without that switch beeing pressed it will work only on power cord, means it disconects battery from beeing used, like service switch, if u open the back cover that switch diaconects battery power from mainboard, same as u phisicaly unplug battery from mainboard

where is the exact location of CMOS (or Bias) battery? i bought this trash thing at an outragous price about 6 months ago. since then twice ihave had to reset the battery and open the damn thing to remove battery. Spec is meh but quality is next to last. currently it is completely dead. i guess it’s the DC charger and i don’t have a multimeter to check. i was thinking about removing (or possibly shorting) the CMOS battery but there is nothing on the mother board resemblimg a CMOS battery. any hint?
