[Specs and Info] ASUS VivoBook 14 (F1400/X1400, 11th Gen Intel) – Last year’s hardware can still be of use

The Vivobook series is full of laptops in all price ranges, starting from the Chromebook editions, going to the Vivobook 14 and 15, as well as the OLED and Pro models, which are the high-end options, which can go as far as to challenge the ProArt and Zenbook laptops that ASUS also offers.

Today we have the ASUS VivoBook 14 (F1400/X1400, 11th Gen Intel), which comes with last year’s Tiger Lake U-series. If you’re looking for a budget device, chances are you don’t need the most-performing hardware, and can settle down with the Tiger Lake processors which still bring snappy performance, despite the 4-core limitation.

Today we’re giving you a quick overview of the ASUS VivoBook 14 (F1400/X1400, 11th Gen Intel).

ASUS VivoBook 14 (F1400/X1400, 11th Gen Intel): Full Specs

Design

While the laptop is made entirely from plastic, it has some bracing on the inside, notably on the bezels on the left and right, as well as below the keyboard, which gives it an extra bit of flex resistance. In terms of the design, we see a sloping lid, which curves at the bottom, giving the back of the laptop a lift, thus giving more air to the cooling and improving ergonomics. Portability is okay, as the VivoBook comes in at just 1.55 kg and has a profile of 19.9 mm.

Display

The display selection offers two TN panels, which we think you should skip outright and go for the Full HD IPS option, which has better viewing angles and higher 250-nit brightness.

Specifications and features

In terms of hardware, there are four total processors to choose from, starting from the Pentium Gold 7505 and the Core i3-1115G4, both with 2 cores and 4 threads. Then we have the Core i5-1135G7 and Core i7-1165G7, which bring 4-cores and 8-threads and can be much more nimble and snappy inside Windows.

For graphics, you get whatever’s integrated into your processor, which is perfectly fine for the VivoBook 14. The Core i5 and Core i7 get the most powerful of the bunch, the Iris Xe Graphics G7, which have shown good performance both in productivity tasks, as well as being able to play some lighter games, like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, DOTA 2, or League of Legends.

The port selection includes three USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, one USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 1) port, an HDMI 1.4 port, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
