Design

The laptops use a lot of recycled materials, as the lid contains 21% bioplastics, 30% recycled plastics, and 20% reclaimed carbon fiber. With that, it should be pretty durable, as ThinkPads have used a carbon fiber and plastic combo for a while to pretty great results. Dell doesn’t give information about the base materials, however, we do expect to see metal, as the laptops are plenty expensive to justify its use. The convertible laptop is 120 grams heavier, at 1.32 kg, while maintaining the same profile of 18.43 mm.

Display

Both laptops come with a FHD IPS display, with two configurations for the clamshell laptop and one configuration for the convertible. The base model of the Latitude 13 has an 800:1 contrast ratio and a 250-nit max brightness. It doesn’t offer significant color coverage. Thankfully, there’s another option, with a higher 1000:1 contrast ratio, 400 nits of brightness, and 100% sRGB coverage. The convertible laptop has an FHD IPS display with a 270 nit peak brightness, a 600:1 contrast ratio, and 100% sRGB coverage.

Specifications and features

The laptop comes with four CPUs, all from the Alder Lake U-series. We start off with the Core i3-1215U with 6 cores and 8 threads and finish off with the Core i7-1265U with 10-cores and 12 threads. For graphics, there’s the Iris Xe Graphics G7 for the Core i5 and Core i7 CPUs, and the Intel UHD Graphics (64EU) for the Core i3 CPU. These laptops can be good for image editing and quick work on the go, as these U-series chips are best for quick short bursts, as they can quickly spike up their clock speeds for short periods of time, without overheating.
