HP Elite c640 G3 Chromebook: Full Specs
Design
With a metal chassis, the Chromebook feels premium in your hand. The design is similar to most other business-class devices, however, that’s not bad at all, since HP has put some of its own twists on it. The keyboard deck is positioned slightly lower than the palm rest, however, there isn’t a hard gap between them, but rather a slope. On the back of the lid, there’s the new HP logo, which is used on the more expensive Spectre and ENVY. The device is kept light, weighing around 1.53 kg and having a profile of 19.55 mm.
Display
There are three total display options, with one TN panel and two Full HD IPS panels. One of the IPS panels maxes out at 400 nits and comes with 100% sRGB coverage. Then we have another FHD IPS panel with 1000 nits of brightness and HP’s Sure View Reflect, but only 72% sRGB coverage.
Specifications and features
The laptop has a total of six CPU options, starting with the Intel Celeron 7305 and the Pentium 8505. The Celeron has 5 cores and 5 threads, while the Pentium has 5 cores and 6 threads. Then we have four Alder Lake U-series processors, with the Core i3-1215U, with 6 cores and 8 threads. The next three CPUs: Core i5-1235U, i5-1245U, and Core i7-1265U, each has 10 cores and 12 threads. You only get integrated graphics, which vary in power depending on which CPU you go for.
The laptop has up to 16GB of LPDDR4x memory that’s soldered onto the motherboard. The speakers are mounted on the bottom but are enhanced by Bang & Olufsen, so we expect good audio quality. Also, the keyboard on the front is spill-resistant, while a backlight comes as an option. On the base, you can see that there’s a fingerprint reader, which will enhance security.
As for ports, there are two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, an HDMI 2.0 port, an SD card reader, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. A SmartCard reader comes as an option.
