Top 5 reasons to BUY or NOT buy the HP ProBook 450 G7

The HP ProBook 450 G7 seems like a refresh of its predecessor which is a pretty decent machine. The new one (or maybe we can call it the refreshed one) comes with 10th gen Comet Lake CPU options, an IPS screen (option), and a good exterior look (yet similar to the old model). The body is made of plastic and aluminum, and the result isn’t bad but we observed some flexes so maybe for the next successor HP has to improve the build quality.

The good news is that the 2020 model isn’t too hot under heavy load so it will not roast your fingers but it’s a bit loud so keep that in mind if you prefer quiet machines. If you haven’t already checked our in-depth analysis regarding this device you can find it here.

Here are our Top 5 picks about the HP ProBook 450 G7.

4 reasons to BUY the HP ProBook 450 G7

1. Decent hardware options

Comet Lake CPUs, the 25W of the NVIDIA GeForce MX250, up to 32GB of dual-channel DDR4 RAM – sounds good. Yes, the performance is there, well, it’s not a gaming monster but the overall snappiness is fine. Moreover, you can play a lot of games thanks to the MX250 but at lower details. This GPU has its pros too, it not that powerful like its RTX cousins but it doesn’t consume so much power and it dissipates less heat.

2. Good keyboard

This spill-resistant keyboard is a great allrounder. It offers a quiet experience which is good especially for office usage. On top of that, it has a backlight, keycaps with clicky feedback, and a NumberPad section. Ok, travel is a bit short but it’s still fine.

3. Upgradability

This device has decent upgradability options. For storage, we have M.2 and 2.5″ SATA slots – for a fast system drive and maybe one big SSD/HDD for storage. We have two RAM DIMMs as well – yes, no soldered memory, thank God.

4. The display part 1

Everyone wants to own a laptop that has at least a decent display, right? Our unit is equipped with an optional IPS 1080p panel and we are almost happy with it. The model number is AUO B156HAN02.1 (AUO21ED). This unit has comfortable viewing angles, good contrast ratio – 1380:1, and it’s PWM-free as well.

1. The display part 2

This laptop doesn’t have a lot of disadvantages but the most noticeable one is the duality nature of the IPS panel. The sRGB color coverage is too low – 53% only and even with our “Gaming and Web design” profile the color accuracy is nothing to write home about.

Music producers don\t use laptops. They usually have a 500K console in the studio to do that job.
