Dell G5 15 (5590) – Dell’s player in the 15-inch gaming market segment

After we took a look at the sleek Dell XPS 13 (9380), it’s time to talk about the new Dell G5 15 (5590). In case you’re wondering, this is a 15-inch gaming notebook.

You can check its in-depth specs and more information here: https://laptopmedia.com/series/dell-g5-15-5590/

This time we are looking at a more powerful machine in terms of hardware. CPU-wise, you can choose between the Intel Core i7-8750H and Intel Core i5-8300H. As for the graphics cards, there are the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (4GB GDDR5)NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Max-QNVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q, and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (Laptop). Moving on to the memory and storage, the current configs can offer up to 32GB of RAM and up to 1000GB SSD + up to 1000GB HDD.

Additionally, the 15.6-inch display has several panel options – a 4K UHD (3840 x 2160), OLED one, a Full HD (1920 x 1080), 144 Hz, IPS that is more gaming-oriented, and a Full HD (1920 x 1080), IPS panel. All this comes in a chassis that is not very lightweight at 2.77 kg and neither is it super thin at 23.7 mm. Let’s hope that this will result in more efficient cooling.

As for connecting other gadgets to this bad boy, you get all the usual ports, the most prominent being a single USB Type-C 3.1 (3.1 Gen 2) connector (Thunderbolt 3, DisplayPort, HDMI).

Alternatives to the Dell G5 15 (5590) are the new Alienware m15 and Acer’s Triton 500.
