And so, as usual, we start with the CPU section – the 5481 offers up to an Intel Core i5-8265U whereas the 5482 can give you some additional computing performance with up to an Intel Core i7-8565U. As for the graphics part, the situation is similar – the former sports an integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 while the latter boasts an NVIDIA GeForce MX130 (2GB GDDR5). Memory-wise, the more budget option (5481) has to offer up to 8GB of RAM, and its mid-range brother lets you use up to 32GB of RAM. Storage-wise, they are almost the same – both have up to 1TB of HDD storage, and it is only the SSD capacities that are different. The first one boasts up to 128GB of SSD storage, while the other – up to 256GB.
When it comes to display quality, both laptops have 14-inch panels but the resolution and panel types are different. Dell Inspiron 14 5481 has a 14.0”, HD (1366 x 768), TN screen, whereas its more expensive brother – a 14.0”, Full HD (1920 x 1080), IPS one. As for the extras, the 5482 has a USB-C port and fingerprint reader.
It’s always good to know what your alternatives are. The budget model competes with the Dell Inspiron 13 5368, Dell Inspiron 13 7375 2-in-1, and HP Envy x360 13 2018. On the other hand, the Dell Inspiron 14 5482 faces the Microsoft Surface Pro 6 and Dell Inspiron 13 5379.
