HP EliteBook 860 G9 gives you up to 23 hours of use on a single charge

While MacBooks are the undeniable kings when it comes to providing long-lasting devices in terms of battery life, there are some Windows-powered options, which manage to achieve similar results.

More recently we’ve seen the new ThinkPad Z-series deliver outstanding results, despite being powered by some of AMD’s most powerful CPUs. However, today we have another recent development, this time from HP, whose EliteBook 860 G9 comes close to topping out battery life charge.

HP EliteBook 860 G9: Full Specs / In-depth Review

Battery life

The HP EliteBook 860 G9 comes with a pretty big 76Wh battery pack, which can seem overkill when talking about office laptops. However, you should know that the device can be a good performer when equipped with a P-series CPU instead of the U-series we have here. The P-series CPUs are known to go way above their 28W power limit, which means more power, but also more energy that’s required to keep them going.

Still, combined with the Core i7-1255U, the EliteBook pulled off an impressive 23 hours of web browsing and 13 hours and 31 minutes of video playback. Now, we conduct the battery tests with the Windows Better performance setting turned on, screen brightness adjusted to 120 nits, and all other programs turned off except for the one we are testing the notebook with.

Brightness: 180 nits; Display Mode: SDR
Time to Full Discharge: Higher is Better

In order to simulate real-life conditions, we used our own script for automatic web browsing through over 70 websites.
