Acer Aspire Vero 15 (AV15-53P) review – environment-friendly device with great cooling

Verdict

The Acer Aspire Vero 15 (AV15-53P) is an eco-friendly device that has a very good cooling solution for its class. The thermal system with two fans and a duo of heat pipes offers low noise levels under heavy CPU loads. In this case, the optional Core i5-1335U can maintain 2.50 GHz for the P cores and 1.94 GHz for the E cores which is an astonishing result. In addition, the temperatures are always always low. The lid that acts as a lever for the back of the base also helps for the good thermals.

The 16:9 1080p IPS display impresses with 98% sRGB coverage and comfortable viewing angles. The unit is PWM-free and its color accuracy can reach an average dE score of just 1.5 which thanks to our “Design and Gaming” profile. This is a great improvement compared to the 4.0 out-of-the-box result.

We bought a laptop with the optional 54.6Wh battery and we are pretty happy with the end result. The capacity is enough for more than 12 hours of Web browsing. The chassis rigidity isn’t the best and we saw a small amount of flex during typing. On the bright side, the plastic build is light – this 15-incher weighs 1.74 kilos. The input devices of the notebook are comfortable for work. Just keep in mind that the keyboard backlight is optional. We are happy to see that the I/O is up to date and it features two Thunderbolt 4 ports. One of the few cons of this machine are the limited upgradability and the high SSD temperatures during benchmarking.
