Acer Swift Go 16 (SFG16-71) review – Ready! Swift! Go!

Verdict

Today, we had a fantastic device in our office. With the exception of a few minor flaws, it is a product that will satisfy all your office and home needs. It has a sleek exterior, which is thin, light, and well-built. Thanks to the aluminum body panels and rigid structure, you can be confident and feel the premium spark of the product.

Interestingly, its hardware varies from relatively powerful to a beast. Unfortunately, there is no dedicated graphics available, but you can still play most of the popular low-intensity games on the market.

However, the best thing about it might just be the display. Unfortunately, we were not able to get ourselves the OLED option. However, its IPS unit is definitely not something to be messed with.

Acer Swift Go 16 (SFG16-71)’s IPS panel has a WUXGA resolution, comfortable viewing angles, and a very good contrast ratio. It covers 86% of the sRGB color gamut. Interestingly, this is a bit off full coverage, while the color accuracy is way off. We are talking about an Average dE of 7.1.

Thankfully, our Gaming and Web design profile is able to reduce it to a value of 1.8, which is right within the standards for professional work. In addition, this display’s backlight doesn’t use PWM for brightness adjustment, while the maximum brightness, itself is pretty high.

So what are the aforementioned flaws? Well, first – the memory is soldered to the motherboard. You basically get two options – 8GB or 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM. Honestly, this might be a little low, if you’re into video editing. The other feature that is not that good is the sound quality. It is not bad, but the speakers are a bit too quiet.

On the bright side, you get a QHD Web camera, which is fantastic for conference calls. Its port selection is good too, as it holds two Thunderbolt 4 connectors, a MicroSD card slot, and more.

Ultimately, for a laptop that is meant to offer portability, great visual experience, and a decent amount of power, the Acer Swift Go 16 (SFG16-71) is as good as you can get!
