    Max CPU load

    In this test we use 100% on the CPU cores, monitoring their frequencies and chip temperature. The first column shows a computer’s reaction to a short load (2-10 seconds), the second column simulates a serious task (between 15 and 30 seconds), and the third column is a good indicator of how good the laptop is for long loads such as video rendering.

    Despite its 360° hinge mechanism, the ROG Flow X16 (GV601, 2023) runs cooler than its ROG Zephyrus M16 (GU604, 2023), equipped with the same CPU.

    It might come as a surprise to many people, but the ASUS ROG Flow X16 (GV601, 2023) is the best-performing RTX 4070 in the bunch we tested. At least in terms of clock speeds. The temperatures are also pretty low (although they can’t match the chilly 61°C of the MSI Vector GP77).

    Gaming comfort

    However, you have to consider the fact that the laptop remained far from being too loud. Actually, it was one of the quietest gaming devices we’ve tested (especially considering the Turbo mode in Armoury Crate, which really lets the fans go crazy). Well, this tight chassis is not able to provide great insulation from the hardware inside, which is the reason for the slightly high temperatures in the middle of the keyboard. On the bright side, it is nowhere near 50°C.

    Battery

    Now, we conduct the battery tests with the Windows Better performance setting turned on, screen brightness adjusted to 120 nits and all other programs turned off except for the one we are testing the notebook with. This device’s 90Wh battery pack lasts for 8 hours and 20 minutes of Web browsing, or 8 hours and 8 minutes of video playback.
