Dell Latitude 13 7340 Review – Great Performance, Average Display – Perfect for Work, Not Play

    Design and construction

The Dell Latitude 13 7340 looks like a typical business machine thanks to its simplistic design, neutral color, and minimal branding. The magnesium chassis leads to a low weight of 1.156 kg and the profile is 16.44 – 17.75 mm. It’s worth mentioning that today we are reviewing the normal version of the laptop, there is an ultra-light iteration of this device that is lighter and thinner.

The lid can be opened with a single hand and the hinge mechanism seems well-tuned. The build quality is good – both the lid and base are solid. Also, the matte finish doesn’t attract tons of smudges.

Well, the side bezels around the panel are thin but the other two are thicker.

You can choose between a 1080p, Full HD IR, or a 5MP IR Web camera. All three options have privacy shutters and Temporal Noise Reduction tech.

This device can lay fully flat on your desk. The lid has two small rubber feet on its bottom side to prevent scratches. That’s because the unit utilizes a lever design and the back of the laptop will be raised if the angle of opening is a bit bigger than 90 degrees. This allows more fresh air to reach the internals and the cooling.

The input devices are great! The Mini LED backlit keyboard is surrounded by two tall speakers. The board has big keycaps with long keytravel and clicky feedback. The power button doubles as a fingerprint reader (option). The touchpad is surprisingly big (125 x 67 mm) for such a form factor. The pad pad has a super smooth surface and the accuracy is spot on. Also, the clicks are quiet.

Two speaker cutouts and a large ventilation grill can be seen on the bottom plate. The heat is being exhausted via four vents on the back. Two of them are aimed at the ground while the other two blow some amount of air to the lower hinge of the display.

    Ports

On the left, there is an HDMI 2.0, two Thunderbolt 4 / USB 4 ports with Power Delivery and DisplayPort 1.4 capabilities, and an optional Smart Card Reader with NFC support. The right side houses a security lock slot, a USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) port that supports the PowerShare function, an Audio combo jack, and an optional NanoSIM slot.

You trust GPUz to inform the version of the Iris Xe (for example 80EUs or 96EUs) and this is bugged!
Since Tiger Lake the only i5 that has Iris Xe with 96EUs is the i5-11320H.
All other i5 mobiles have the 80EUs version. The graphics score in Time Spy confirms this.
I had already noticed this in other analyses…

Correction: ALMOST all i5 mobiles from the 11th generation onwards have Iris Xe 80EUs because, for example, the i5-12450H has only 48EUs.
