Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3i (16″, 2022) review – its display is fantastic

Verdict

This is hands down the best IdeaPad Gaming notebook Lenovo has ever produced. Will it be because of its fantastic display, great performance, or adequate cooling? Well, the right answer lies in all of the aforementioned, plus the price.

Last year, it was unthinkable to have a good-enough notebook that sports an RTX 3060 GPU and still be at this price. Yes, compromises are all around the table, but this might just be the most non-compromise solution out there.

Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3i (16″, 2022)’s IPS panel has a WUXGA resolution, comfortable viewing angles, and a good contrast ratio. It covers 96% of the sRGB color gamut and provides a pretty accurate color representation with our Gaming and Web design profile.

Thankfully, it doesn’t use PWM for brightness adjustment. This makes it comfortable for long periods of use. Moreover, the 165Hz refresh rate is paired with quick pixel response times. As a result, the affordable IdeaPad Gaming 3i becomes a very appealing product.

It has a very good keyboard and touchpad, and the port selection is also fine. Yes, it lacks an SD card reader, and the Thunderbolt 4 port is swapped for an inferior USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 2) unit on the RTX 3060 model. However, two DDR4 SODIMM slots for memory, and two M.2 PCIe x4 slots for Gen 4 SSDs on the inside really make up for the shortcomings.

Interestingly, the battery life is not great, but 6 hours and a half can make it through almost an entire workday. But let’s be honest, you won’t be buying this laptop for work, right? Why not actually? It can do all. The keyboard is good for both gaming and typing and guess what – if you settle for the White backlight, rather than the 4-zone RGB one, you will definitely fly under the radar.

Thanks for this I bought the same laptop with i7-12650h and RTX 3050 Ti, and the thermal throttling is unbelievable. with the cinebenchr23 (and everything else)it stays around 90-95 degrees… and lowers the speed to 1.5ghz. very sad and I hope changing the factory thermal paste will solve everything(will put Arctic mx-6) you gave me hope!!
