Lenovo Legion 5i (16, Gen 9) review – It Crushes the Competition with a Record-Breaking Stress Test

The Legion gaming devices are well-known for their good gaming capabilities (or at least in most cases). Today we will show you the Lenovo Legion 5i (16″, Gen 9) that is offered with 55W Intel Raptor Lake-HX or HX Refresh CPU options. Everything looks good in the GPU department because the machine can be found with GeForce RTX 4000 graphics cards with hefty TGPs.

Since this laptop isn’t part of the “Slim” lineup, Lenovo has fitted a massive thermal system under the bonnet to cool the powerful and thirsty internals. The device isn’t super light and thin because it’s meant for serious gaming. By the way, the fans aren’t that loud which is good. The notebook is full of mouth-watering extras and most of them aren’t optional which is great. We are talking about a good port selection, adequate upgradability, a Web camera with an E-shutter, a backlit keyboard, and Wi-Fi 6E + Bluetooth 5.2 for connectivity. Not bad!

It looks like the 1080p / 1200p panels are part of the history, or at least when it comes to this device’s display options. Here, you get a choice of two 16:10 IPS 1600p screens with 165Hz or 240Hz refresh rate. We bought a laptop with the base model since it brings to the table snappy pixel response times and good color accuracy without costing an extra amount of money. The notebook is highly configurable thanks to the Lenovo Vantage app with its four performance presets and numerous tuning options that can be also found in the BIOS. There, you can turn on the “Legion optimization” function that allows you to overclock or undervolt the processor. The enthusiasts should be happy.
