Lenovo Yoga 9i (14, Gen 9) review – fast, solid, and beautiful

    Disassembly, Upgrade options, and Maintenance

To access the internals of this device, you have to undo four Torx-head screws and three Phillips-head screws that are hidden below the back rubber foot. The latter is fixed to the plate with plastic clips and a bit of double-sided tape so you can easily pop the foot with a prying lever.

Then, raise the panel close to one of the top two corners to create a gap. The next step is to pry the sides, then the front and the back.

Here’s how to bottom plate looks on the inside.

This device has a 75Wh battery. If you want to remove it, detach the connector and undo the 4 Phillips-head screws that hold the unit fixed to the base. It lasts for 12 hours and 30 minutes of Web browsing, or 11 hours and 7 minutes of video playback.

The RAM is soldered but on the bright side, you get up to 32 GB of LPDDR5x-7467 MHz memory that works in dual-channel mode. Even the metal shroud that covers the RAM chips is soldered. For storage, you can rely on a single M.2 slot for 2242 Gen 4 SSDs. There is a decently-sized thermal pad below the NVMe.

The cooling looks sufficient for this kind of laptop. The system comprises two fans, two heat pipes, a pair of heat sinks, and a heat spreader.
