Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 (14″, 2023) review – takes on the 14-inch MacBook Pro
Design and construction
This device is entirely made out of aluminum. Both its lid and base are pretty strong and resistant to flex. The curved corners make holding the laptop a very pleasant experience, while the design is extremely sleek.
In terms of dimensions, we are talking about a weight of 1.49 kg (1.59 kg for the touch-enabled model), while the thickness is only 15.6mm. One would wonder how they fit an RTX 3050 inside.
Thankfully, opening the lid is possible with one hand. As you can see, the bezels around the display are very thin. Furthermore, the top one houses a Full HD Web camera, with an IR face recognition scanner, and a ToF sensor. It has the capability to know if you’re there, so it can log out of the device, or pause the video you’re watching.
Moving to the base, we see the backlit keyboard, which is surrounded by two speaker grills. The keyboard itself is really comfortable. Thanks to the long key travel and clicky feedback it feels like you are typing on a mechanical unit.
The touchpad is fairly big – 80 by 135 mm. Its surface is made out of glass, which provides a great gliding experience. Tracking is also fast and accurate. One thing we didn’t like is that the clicking mechanism didn’t really work in the topmost part of the area.
A look at the bottom panel reveals two more speaker cutouts. In addition, there is a quite sizeable ventilation grill. Hot air, respectively, is exhausted through a vent on the back of the base (in between the base and the hinge cover).
Ports
On the left side, there is an HDMI 2.0 connector, a USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 2) port with Power Delivery 3.0 and DisplayPort functions, and a USB4 port. Then, on the right, you get a USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) port, an Audio jack, as well as the Power button, and a camera E-shutter switch.

Yoga brand outside of the US can either be clamshell or convertible. Currently, to distinguish between the two, the Pro (or Slim Pro) moniker applies to the clamshell version like this one, Yoga Pro 7. In the US it’s just Yoga for convertible and Slim for clamshell period – no need for the confusion like elsewhere.
The US is not the centre of the world. If it’s only like that in the US, then too bad for you, but the rest of us have to deal with how it’s being named so these reviews using the global naming schemes is fundamentally correct.
Soldered ram, so what? Almost every laptop out there has soldered rams these days. 16GB is still more than enough. I never use more than 7GB with heavy work. And who needs an SD card reader these days?
You never talked about upgrade options in the upgrade options section! How large of an m.2 disk will it take?
