MSI Bravo 15 C7V review – AMD is still the king of efficiency
Temperatures and comfort, Battery Life
Max CPU load
In this test we use 100% on the CPU cores, monitoring their frequencies and chip temperature. The first column shows a computer’s reaction to a short load (2-10 seconds), the second column simulates a serious task (between 15 and 30 seconds), and the third column is a good indicator of how good the laptop is for long loads such as video rendering.
Average core frequency (base frequency + X); CPU temp.
| AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS (35W TDP) | 0:02 – 0:10 sec | 0:15 – 0:30 sec | 10:00 – 15:00 min |
|---|---|---|---|
| MSI Bravo 15 C7V | 3.75 GHz @ 81°C @ 65W | 3.74 GHz @ 84°C @ 65W | 3.75 GHz @ 84°C @ 65W |
| Acer Nitro 5 (AN515-47) | 3.94 GHz @ 73°C @ 75W | 3.86 GHz @ 77°C @ 70W | 3.87 GHz @ 85°C @ 70W |
Although it is slightly slower than the Acer Nitro 5 (AN515-47), the MSI Bravo 15 C7V showed great stability throughout the entire test.
Real-life gaming
| NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 | GPU frequency/ Core temp (after 2 min) | GPU frequency/ Core temp (after 30 min) | Max fans |
|---|---|---|---|
| MSI Bravo 15 C7V | 2535 MHz @ 72°C @ 89W | 2535 MHz @ 74°C @ 89W | – |
| ASUS TUF Gaming F15 (FX507, 2023) | 2595 MHz @ 69°C @ 90W | 2595 MHz @ 67°C @ 89W | – |
| MSI Cyborg 15 (A12V) | 1812 MHz @ 64°C @ 45W | 1806 MHz @ 67°C @ 45W | – |
| MSI Katana 15 (B13V) | 2540 MHz @ 74°C @ 85W | 2540 MHz @ 74°C @ 85W | 2550 MHz @ 68°C @ 83W |
Despite the 105W TGP, this device ran always at no more than 90W. However, this leaves headroom for overclocking, which can be done through the MSI Center app. Thankfully, the VRMs are being actively cooled. This should provide enough stability in this perspective.
Gaming comfort
However, you should keep in mind that the laptop’s base tends to get quite toasty. Further increase in clock speeds will definitely have an impact on external temperatures too, even if you max out the fans (by using the CoolerBoost option).
Battery
Now, we conduct the battery tests with the Windows Better performance setting turned on, screen brightness adjusted to 120 nits and all other programs turned off except for the one we are testing the notebook with. This device features a 53.5Wh battery pack. It lasts for 8 hours and 28 minutes of Web browsing, or 7 hours and 30 minutes of video playback.
Brightness: 180 nits; Display Mode: SDR
Time to Full Discharge: Higher is Better
