Both the Core i5-12500H and Core i5-13500H offer a lot of cores and threads, as well as high clock speeds and modern encoding capabilities, thanks to their integrated graphics, which can take the stress off of the discrete GPU, in the case of a gamer who also likes to record his gameplay, stream, or edit it later on.

Performance
The architectural swap from Alder Lake to Raptor Lake does provide a little boost to performance. How little, you ask? Well, in Cinebench R23, the Core i5-13500H yields a 5% increase in 3D Rendering performance, while in Photoshop, the Core i5-12500H gets a P1 finish, as it’s 0.3 seconds quicker.

Conclusion
As you can see, both the Core i5-12500H and the Core i5-13500H offer plenty of power for games, video edits, renders, and anything else. After you cut your teeth and gain valuable experience, you can certainly switch to an i7 or even an i9, which will certainly cost more but offer that much power that you’ll need the experience to harness properly.
